Polycab India said on 13 October 2026 that the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal stayed an Ahmedabad tribunal order that had admitted an insolvency petition from Asier Metals over alleged operational dues of ₹2.79 crore, with the appeal listed for 26 October.

On 13 October 2026, wires and cables maker Polycab India told exchanges that the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal has stayed a National Company Law Tribunal order that would have started corporate insolvency proceedings against the company. The underlying case is a ₹2.79 crore operational dues claim from Asier Metals Private Ltd. The Ahmedabad bench of the NCLT had admitted the petition on 7 October under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code. In an order dated 9 October, NCLAT directed that the admission be kept in abeyance until further orders and listed Polycab’s appeal for 26 October 2026. Polycab argues the dispute is a commercial matter, not a balance-sheet crisis, and said it filed the appeal on merits.
India’s insolvency code allows relatively small creditors to trigger a process that can freeze a large company’s control if admission orders stand. Courts and tribunals have increasingly scrutinised whether tiny claims against cash-rich firms should open full resolution tracks. A stay restores normal board authority while appeals run. For suppliers, the case is a reminder that unpaid invoices can still be escalated quickly even when the counterparty looks solvent on paper. For Polycab, the immediate operational impact is reputational rather than liquidity, but legal fees and management time are real costs.
If you sell components to large manufacturers, document delivery and payment terms carefully; counterparties can use insolvency filings as leverage in disputes. If you hold industrial stocks, watch whether NCLAT affirms the stay or sends the matter back to the NCLT on 26 October. Polycab’s statement emphasises net cash above ₹4,000 crore; investors should still read the eventual tribunal ruling for precedent on when micro-claims can bind mega-cap balance sheets. The episode does not change cable demand, but it shapes how aggressively creditors can knock on the door.
